4. The novel begins with Lockwood a tenant visiting Wuthering Heights. He has a bad experience, Heathcliff is very rude,, he attacked by a dog and the young lady is very unfriendly. Since it was snowing he requested for permission to spend the night, which Heathcliff refused. Finally the Servant Zillah felt sad and asked him to stay i in a lonely room. As Lockwood was looking at the room he saw the names Catherine Linton , Catherine Edgar and Catherine Heathcliff

5. As Lockwood was falling asleep he heard a tapping sound on the windows , so he tried to open the window and break off the branch when a cold hand closed on his hand, he screamed and the candle fell onto the books burned

6. Heathcliff was furious that Lockwood had entered his secret room. He shouted to Lockwood to leave and he continued screaming Cathy ‘s name. Disgusted by the whole incident Lockwood went to his house and asked Nelly Dean the background of the story .Nelly related a story of love , passion and revenge that took place over 20 yrs

9. One day Mr Earnshaw brought an orphan boy called Heathcliff to Wuthering Heights and raised him along with Hindley and Catherine. Catherine got along with Heathcliff but Hindley hated him Hindley ill treated Heathcliff so much that Heathcliff Vowed to take revenge on Hindley.

10. Soon Mr Earnshaw died ,Hindley went away to college, Catherine and Heathcliff grew up playing on the moors

11. Hindley married Frances and illtreated Heathcliff, Catherine began to love Heathcliff. Once while playing both Cathy and Heathcliff reached the house of the Lintons. They were curious to see how the Lintons played. Suddenly a dog attacked Cathy and she had to spend a few days in Lintons house

12. The Lintons welcome Cathy and take good care of her for 3 weeks, Heathcliff had to go home. When Cathy came back she had completely changed, she looked very beautiful and her hair was done in curls. Cathy began to enjoy the company Edgar Linton much more than Heathcliff Which made Heathcliff very jealous.

13. Cathy invited Edgar home and was quite sure that Edgar would propose to her. Meanwhile Heathcliff was angry that Cathy was not spending time with him. That afternoon Heathcliff left Wuthering Heights because he overheard a conversation between Cathy and Nelly Dean. Cathy told Nelly that she could never marry Heathcliff.. Edgar Linton Cathy.

14. She described her love for Edgar thus “ My love for Linton is like the foliage in the woods , Time will change it, I am well aware,As winter changes the trees. My love for Heathcliff resembles the eternal rocks beneath,:A source of little visible delight, but necessary . 15. Cathy married Edgar and justifyed her love for Edgar to Nelly:

16. But the couple’s happiness was short lived because Heathcliff came back. He had started living in Wuthering Heights along with with Hindley and Hindley ‘s son Hareton Cathy was going to have a baby, she was wanting Heathcliff to give her all the attention, but Isabella started giving all her attention to Heathcliff and he thought it was the best way to take revenge was by marrying Isabella.

17. Meanwhile Hindley died drinking and the new owner of Wuthering Heights is Heathcliff, he vowed to destroy everything that Edgar felt dear to his heart. Heathcliff eloped with Isabella but ill treated her , soon she was going to have a baby. Heathcliff kept on telling Cathy that she had made a wrong choice of marrying Edgar

18. Soon Cathy gave birth to a baby girl, who was named Cathy (younger)and the older Cathy passed away.Heathcliff went insane that Cathy died. Heathcliff put a lock of his hair intertwined with Cathy ‘s hair, he removed Edgar ‘s hair from the locket.this chain was buried with Cathy.

19. Heathcliff said “ If he loved you with all the power of his soul for a full life time, he could not love you as much as I do in one single day”

Cathy used to say to Nelly “ he is more myself than I am, What ever our souls are made of , his and mine are the same” After Cathy ‘s funeral was over Heathcliff could not bear the sorrow, he even said Catherine Earnshaw May you not rest as long as I am living . You said I killed you — haunt me then . The murdered do haunt their murderers — I believe that ghosts have wandered the Earth — Be with me always— take any form”

22. Heathcliff waited for 17 urs to compete his revenge,he brought his son Linton a sickly boy to Wuthering Heights, The younger Cathy had grown into a beautiful young girl, whom Edgar adored. Nelly looked after her. One day while riding in the moors she met Heathcliff and Linton, who told her that they were related to her Slowly she began visiting. Wuthering Heights. One day Heathcliff refused to let Cathy go home

He insisted on her marrying Linton, Heathcliff knew this would kill Edgar , Cathy realised that Heathcliff had tricked her, he often beat her and she was very sad, soon Linton died and Cathy was alone at Wuthering Heights. Her father Edgar died , so Thrushcross Grange was now owned by Heathcliff. He got the revenge he wanted . He continued to be tormented by thoughts of Cathy ( older)

24. The story continues 20 yrs later , Heathcliff rented out Thrush cross Grange to a tenant called Lockwood. Everyday Heathcliff would become more and more sullen , he would roam on the moors and as a result he fell sick , he died shouting Cathy ‘s name, He was buried next to Cathy ‘s grave and Edgar ‘s grave

25. Finally Hareton married Cathy ( younger)they inherited Thrushcross Grange and Wuthering Heights. Nelly Dean continued to be the housekeeper for Cathy. Lockwood has finished writing the story in the diary ( which Nelly narrated)since he felt well Lockwood was going to London. He heard the villagers talk of seeing the ghosts of Heathcliff and Cathy.
