Electives & Programs • EVERY student at TBT is in a program/major. • The program classes often take the place of many electives available at traditional high schools. • A program change is NOT just a schedule change! • Everyone must have a full credit of performing/fine arts • Everyone must take at least 1 class on line

  8. Honors, AP & Dual Enrollment • Honors classes earn .04 additional credit* per semester. • Advanced Placement classes earn .08 additional credit* per semester. Students in AP classes take the AP exams in May. • Dual Enrollment classes earn .08 additional credit* per semester. Dual Enrollment classes can be taken at TBT and/or HCC.   9. What is the PSAT? • PSAT/NMSQT stands for Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT Reasoning Test™. It also gives you a chance to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) scholarship programs. The PSAT/NMSQT measures: critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills and writing skills. • WHY TAKE THE PSAT? to receive feedback on your strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for college study; to see how your performance on an admissions test might compare with that of others applying to college; to enter the competition for scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation; and to help prepare for the SAT • In Hillsborough County, ALL FRESHMEN,SOPHOMORES & JUNIORS take the PSAT free of charge. • When is the test? The test will be on Wednesday morning, October 16 2012 There will be an altered academic schedule for that day to accommodate all students on campus. • How do I sign up? Students DO NOT have to register for this test – English teachers will have practice information and test room assignments. www.collegeboard.com

FCAT! http://fcat.fldoe.org/ • All freshmen MUST be enrolled in a reading class (Intensive Reading, Career Decision Making, Semantics & Logic, Advanced Communication Skills, Advanced Reading) • Freshmen who do not score at the passing level will be enrolled in a reading class for the sophomore year (and each year thereafter until passing) • FCAT testing is in March/April, 2014 • End of course exams in math have taken the place of the FCAT math test (algebra 1, geometry)
