Class Objectives

  • To gain an understanding of and appreciation for parallel computing.

  • To be able to analyze computer algorithms for complexity and dependencies that impact performance.

  • To understand computer architecture features that have an impact on software performance.

  • To understand how coding style impacts performance.

  • To develop “practically optimal” a la Mary Poppins, implementations of algorithms for a class of target architectures.
