  5. What do individuals want? • Flexible supports to meet needs • Local services • Get different elements of service from different providers • Budget - choose and manage • Families want to play their part in supporting their family member

  13. Personal Budgets • Funding allocated to service user • Personal Budget as a Direct Payment • Or they can choose to engage with a service provider

  14. Individualised Ringfenced Funding • Funding ringfenced to the service user • Requirement to hold as ringfenced fund in organisations accounts

  20. What is required? • Active Partners in Decision Making • Structure for Decision Making • Existing and Future Employment • TUPE* * European Communities (Protection of Employees’ Rights on Transfer of Undertakings) Regulations 2003 (“the TUPE Regulations”).

  21. Other Issues • Person must know what services they want and need • Have a clear desire to take responsibility for improving their services • Direct Payments may not be for everyone • Empower to be Active Partners

  22. Conclusion • The future will challenge, but also provide opportunities for service providers to be more creative, flexible, to be truly person centred and to empower service users to have more control and choice in their daily lives. After all that is why we exist.
