Specific Directions for Administering Physical Conditions in Testing Room • Maintain a natural classroom atmosphere • Provide adequate lighting • Arrange seating in order to prevent cheating • Post a “Testing DO NOT Disturb Sign” on the door Test Directions for Administering • Read directions as printed in booklet (markers) • Do not give help on specific test questions • Pause approximately 10 seconds between questions • Reread direction if a mistake is made reading the direction • Cover all Sittings within a subtest 6

ACCOMODATIONS • Accommodations Changes in standardized assessment conditions to level the playing field for students by eliminating the construct created by their disability (Tindal & Fuchs, 1999) • Nonstandard Administration • Verbatim Reading (Reading Comprehension, Word Study Skills, Word Reading, Sentence Reading ) • Calculator in Math Procedures Subtest • Oral Response in Native Language – English Language Learners • Special Coding Requirement for Non-Standard Administration • On Student Booklet under “Special Conditions” bubble #20 7

Activities Prior to Testing • Inventory Test Materials against Packing Slip • Ensure boxes belong to your building • Retain Boxes for returning booklets for scoring • Contact Assessment Office for Additional Materials • Ancillary Materials (distributed during meeting) • Packing Instructions – Power point • Special Program Order for Scoring Services (SPOSS) Form • SSID Sheets • Paperbands • Address Labels (white) • Pre-Identification Rosters and Labels • Test Materials (delivered to your school) • Test Booklets / Practice tests – packages of 10 • Test Directions / Practice Test Directions- single copies • Rulers – packages of 40 • Meet with Test Administrators • Set Testing Schedule • Allow teachers to preview test directions • Train teachers for test administration 8

Activities Prior to Testing Completing Student Demographic Information • Pre-Identification Labels • Eliminates bubbling most Student Identification information • Must be placed properly on test booklets • Discard labels with inaccurate information • If a student receives a non-standard administration you must bubble #20 on the test booklet in Special Conditions • Bubble the following information for students without labels 2. Last Name, First Name MI • Date of Birth • Gender • Race/Ethnicity • Grade • Student Number-begin with leading zero 10. If a student receives a non-standard administration you must bubble on the test booklet #20 in Special Conditions 10

After Testing • Organize Scorable Materials to return to Harcourt • Used Test Booklets grades 1 & 2 • Arrange Booklets by class • Arrange booklets with the demographic page facing up • Ensure margin with black horizontal bars is on the left • Complete a Scoring Service Identification Sheet for each class or group of documents • Use a #2 pencil to complete this form • Do not mix grades within a group • Do not send photocopies of the SSID Sheet • Place the completed SSID sheet on top of the group and band with a paper band 13

After Testing Shipping Scorable Material • Use Original Cartons • Pack documents in order that Grade 1 booklets are at the top of box #1 of your shipment • You may pack multiple grades within a box • Do not split classes between boxes • Fill empty space in boxes with crumpled paper • Seal boxes with reinforced tape • Affix an Address Label to each box in your shipment • Record your school address on the Label • Sequentially number the boxes in your shipment in the space provided on the label • Pitney Bowes will retrieve material on March 19 • Materials must be ready for pick up the morning of March 19 • Place material in main office and notify staff of retrieval • Driver will leave a receipt once shipment is picked up • Contact the Assessment Office if materials have not been retrieved from your school 18

After Testing • Alerts questions regarding your order that delay the scoring process • Missing/Incomplete SPOSS • Required to inventory your order • Missing/Incomplete SSID Sheets • N-count Discrepancies: Please ensure that the number of documents is bubbled accurately on the SSID Sheet • Test Booklets not returned as scheduled to Harcourt for Scoring • Partial shipments of test booklets returned for scoring 19
