ISLAM IS BASED ON 5 PILLARS: • THE SHAHADA – LA ILAHA ILLALAH, MUHAMMAD-UR-RASUL ALLAH • SALAH – pray at specified times 5 times a day • ZAKAT – paying charity to the poor • SAWM – fast in the month of Ramadan • HAJJ – trip/pilgrimage to Makkah (Saudi Arabia) at least once in a lifetime #3

  4. WHAT IS ISLAM? The BELIEF/IMAN in 6 things: 1 – ALLAH 2 - his Angels 3 – his Books 4 – his Messengers 5 – the Day of Qiyamah (Judgment) 6 – The Qadr (Fate/ Preordainment) of Allah #4

  5. WHAT IS ISLAM? • ISLAM IS BASED ON THE RIGHT BELIEF AND ACTIONS. • THE BELIEF IS NECESSARY FIRST, THE ACTIONS HAVE TO FOLLOW ACCORDINGLY TO ENSURE JANNAH. • THE GOOD DEEDS ARE NECESSARY FOR JANNAH. #5

  6. WHAT IS ISLAM? • IT IS TO REMEMBER OUR RUBB/LORD WHEN IN GOOD TIMES AND IN BAD TIMES • IT IS TO REMEMBER ALLAH WHEN WE ARE TESTED WITH GOOD (WEALTH& CHILDREN) AND BAD (SICKNESS, EARTHQUAKES, LOSS OF GOODS OR FRIENDS, ETC.) #6

  7. ISLAM IN BRIEF • TO REMEMBER ALLAH • TO DO THE ACTIONS OF JANNAH • TO STAY AWAY FROM MAKRUH AND HARAAM • TO OBEY ALLAH AND OBEY HIS MESSENGER (saaw) • TO HAVE BEAUTIFUL MANNERS/ ADAAB #7

  8. ENVY IN ISLAM? Narrated Ibn Masud (RA): I heard the Prophet (saaw) saying, "There is no envy except in two:a person whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it in the right way, and a person whom Allah has given wisdom (i.e. religious knowledge) and he gives his decisions accordingly and teaches it to the others." (Sahih Bukhari, Book #24, Hadith #490) #8

  9. REMEMBRANCE OF ALLAH "Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah; for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction.”(  سورة الرعد  , Ar-Rad, Chapter #13, Verse #28) #9
