  8. 3.1 | Topic Overview Atthe 16th World Business Dialoguewe will discussthecrucialchallengesoftodayandsearchfor alternative approaches in businesstodevelopsolutionsfor a smart future.

  9. 3.2 | Topic Introduction The 16th World Business Dialogueisgoingto deal with alternative businessmodels. Forthesakeoffocuswe narrowed down our topic on three relevant subjects At the 16th World Business Dialogue we want to dare an experiment. Notionally we will free our minds from our familiar structures in order to seriously discuss the challenges of today. Our aim is not only to rethink business out of the box, but to roll up our sleeves, and actively take our chance to shape a smart future.

  10. 3.3 | Human Factors Can theneedsofbusinessesandindividualsbematched? How will tomorrow´sworkplaceconsequentlylooklike? Money, power, prestige and fast cars beckon all graduates who have the opportunity to sign a contract at one of the big players in our economy. But in times of change in values the needs of employees rise in complexity. Employees search for companies offering freedom, self-fulfillment and personal responsibility. Human factors develops into the ultimate source of entrepreneurial capital. Creative ideas, innovations and each flash of inspiration are the deep roots of a company`s success. Which corporate structures spark creativity? What kind of leadership is needed to get the best out of every associate? The challenge of today is to find the golden mean between the demands of enterprises and theneeds of employees. Those companies who succeed in this crucial field of management will truly revolutionize the future´s workplace.

  11. 3.4 | Big in Business Formarketingreasons Companies brandthemselveswith CSR. Isthere a waytotrulybridgeprofitandresponsibility? Greater access to information and choices boosts consumer power. Consumers today are going tocheck producer’s profile, policies, and any ingredients, such as those of milk, cookies, or bread, while walking through the supermarket. This shift of power towards the consumer is going to be an enormous strategic challenge for companies. Effective and innovative corporate responsibility strategies have a great potential to lead to competitive advantages and ultimately to greater profits. As a result, there is an urgent need for corporate policies to bridge the gap between profit and responsibility. The search for alternative models that create both economic and societal value is in its early stages. Therefore, we are going to examine the existing models and try to explore new ones. Moving away from starry eyed idealism, we will try to find realistic solutions to integrate responsibilityinto the core business of enterprises in a reasonable manner. Businessmen and women whosuccessfully tread this path will truly be big in business and will be well prepared for the future.

  12. 3.5 | Global Future WhileAsiarapidlygrows, Europe endsup in onecrisis after theother. What will Europe´sstatusbe in 2030? Howcancompaniespreparefortheshiftofeconomicandpolitical power? Especially in the last century the world has become more and more globalized. The idea that a variety of small units can grow to a bigger network, in which every state benefits from thestrengths of its neighbors was the reason to build the European Union. But things have changed. Nowadays, the “European Idea” appears in an unfavorable light. The financial crisis shows uncertainty and heavy discord among European countries and lead to the question if the European model is working well enough to face the challenges of our time. Meanwhile, emerging markets such as the BRICS States grow in a tremendous speed. Therefore the distribution of economic and state power among the world’s nations is subject tochange. How will the distribution of our world’s resources look like, and more importantly, what growth models will be effective in attaining a reasonable distribution of resources that are both profitable and sustainable? How can this process be actively influenced by states, businesses and individuals?
