Clinical Assistant - 18 Weeks • The Clinical Assistant course will cover anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, clinical and laboratory procedures, pharmaceutical principles, medication administration, first aid, and medical law and ethics. The medical office environment, assisting with patients, specialty practices, nutrition, and resume development will also be discussed. A clinical rotation concludes the course.

  3. Phlebotomy Technician / EKG Technician- 9 Weeks • Phlebotomy/EKG Technicians are an integral part of the medical laboratory. A Phlebotomy Tech will collect blood samples from patients by venipuncture or microtechniques and facilitate the transportation of these specimens. Duties may differ by doctor's office, hospital, or laboratory and can include:

  4. Medical Coding 18 Weeks • Medical coders are indispensable to the health information industry. They are responsible for inputting the appropriate codes of various medical services so that healthcare providers can receive payment for services rendered. As a medical coder, you will interpret medical records and assign an appropriate diagnostic code and an appropriate procedural code. As a student, you will require a strong amount of self-discipline and dedication to learning and perfecting your skills as a medical coder.

Medical Administrative Specialist - 15 Weeks • Skills necessary for the healthcare industry in professional behavior, to include interpersonal skills and personal behavior • Understanding and application of basic skills needed in medical law and medical ethics. • Skills in telephone techniques • Skills in scheduling appointments • Skills in patient reception and processing • Skills necessary for the daily operation of a medical office • Knowledge of various written communications needed in a medical office and knowledge in processing and maintaining patient medical records • HIPAA policies and procedures • Basic diagnostic and procedural coding • Basics of health insurance and how to complete and process a health insurance claim form • Basics of professional fees, billing and collections • Basics of management in practice finances, to include marketing • Application of basic concepts in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

  6. Medical Coding & Administrative Specialist - 18 Weeks • Upon successful completion of training students are awarded a Certificate of Training. Students are also eligible to sit for certification by examination with the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), awarding the CBCS (Certified Billing and Coding Specialist) and the CMAA (Certified Medical Administrative Assistant), the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) awarding the CPC (Certified Professional Coder), and through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) awarding the CCA.

  7. Medical Assistant (Diploma) • The Medical Assistant program combines the Clinical Assistant, Medical Administrative Specialist, and Medical Coding curriculum. At the completion of those three classes, the student will complete a 200 hour externship. Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the following certifications by examination: CCMA (NHA), CMAA (NHA), CPT (NHA), CET (NHA), CBCS (NHA), CPC (AAPC), CCA (AHIMA).
