  2. Why? Portfolio Leaders are an essential requirement for the OGC Gateway™ authorised hub status held by CPD/CoE on behalf of the NICS and wider Public sector

  3. What exactly is a Portfolio Leader? • At the minute it’s senior CPD staff who have an overview of the programmes and projects within their client Departments. • A expert in a specialised area that can provide advice to CoE to assist in evaluating an Risk Potential Assessment (RPA)

  4. What value do Portfolio Leaders provide? • A ‘peer to peer’ challenge function to SRO’s, in the areas of : • Readiness • Appropriateness of Gates, & • Validity of the risk assessments for Gateway™ • Specialist knowledge to support CoE • A connection between CPD business functions and CoE • The ability to enhance Successful Delivery.

What are the Portfolio Leaders responsibilities?? • Promotion of the Gateway™ Review process as part of the overall assurance process for programmes and projects • Building a relationship of trust with public sector client organisations • Engagement of Public sector clients in the Gateway™ Review process

  6. Initial Risk assessment (RPA) of programmes and projects for Gateway™ • Attendance at Gateway™ assessment and planning meetings with SRO and project teams as necessary • Provision of challenge function to SRO’s

Who Are the Portfolio leaders • At present the Gateway™ Portfolio Leaders role will be undertaken by the Key Account Managers (KAM’s) within CPD. • In certain situations Client Advisors or Head of CoEwill undertake the “Portfolio Leader” role and provide expert advice to CoE • CoE expect to extend this to other experienced project managers and Gateway™ reviewers in the future. • This may be done as part of the strategy to delegate lower level reviews to organisational sub Hubs

What exactly does the Leader role entail? • Time commitment? • Portfolio Leaders will act solely as advisors to CoE • CoE will usually deal with the KAM/Client Advisors for the Department submitting the application for Gateway™ for advice and support • Portfolio Leaders will be fully briefed on the level of advice required • Portfolio Leaders will be expected to respond within agreed timescales

  9. And Finally!!? The SMG group of KAM/Client Advisor Portfolio Leaders can provide an important platform for the sharing of information relating to delivery of Programmes and Projects across the NICS and the wider Public Sector.
