  4. CLIENT’s MESSAGE In keeping with SRF’s mission, Acceso Hispano also organizes activities at the community level to reach the people who most need confidential, bilingual support services. These activities include fairs, town hall meetings, focus groups, and provider / community meetings. Acceso Hispano serves Hispanic communities across the United States, independent of where they live. Our hotline services, radio programming, and electronic media are available to everyone—including native Spanish speakers, English-only speakers, recent arrivals to the U.S. or Hispanic families who have been here for generations. Acceso Hispano Network of Hispanic-Serving Providers by State Our I&R Specialists refer callers to services found in our database of over 17,500 pre-screened Hispanic-serving providers throughout the country.  Services in our database range from health clinics to boys & girls clubs, to small business advisors and lawyers.

HCN Radio Coverage by State Hispanic Communications Network™(HCN) engages Latinos across the United States with customized, fully-integrated media campaigns that blend dynamic television, radio, print and internet elements.HCN enables clients to communicate directly with America’s booming Latino community, crafting compelling messages and delivering them via our unmatched network of traditional and new media outlets. These include: Daily radio capsules and live talk-radio programs on over 200 affiliate stations, covering more than 90% of the total U.S. Hispanic market.

NSF/ Acceso Hispano Initiatives Celebra la Ciencia & La Pagina de la Familia Celebra la Ciencia’smission is to encourage Hispanic children and families to become involved in science and health programs through the use of media and immediate engagement in hands-on learning. Celebra la Ciencia (CLC) establishes working relationships and collaborations between local museums, community organizations, businesses, schools, colleges and universities, and the media. Together, these groups provide access to informal science activities through hands-on family science exhibits and demonstrations at local festivals, and provide information about career opportunities in science, technology, and biomedical research.

NSF/ Acceso Hispano Initiatives SciGirls To meet the dramatic changes in U.S. demographics and the need for more woman scientists and engineers, the project has expanded programming into Latino communities nationwide via the SciGirls en Espanol initiative working in collaboration with the Self Reliance Foundation.  SciGirls en Espanol provides Spanish-language print and video resources, leader training, and grants to nine existing Latina-serving organizations to help encourage greater engagement in STEM.

  13. Hands On Demonstrations & Outreach Earned media outreach – live on site interviews conducted by FOX, CBS, Univision, La Opinion, TeleOro, Entravision, which generated over 1,200 calls to our national hotline within the 8 week period.

El Cancer NosAfecta A Todos – Cancer Affects Everyone Partners: Catholic and Evangelical Churches, Latino Supermarket Chain, Mexican Consulate, and a network of 64 clinics/hospitals. • 5 week campaign components: • paid/earned media campaign • spokesperson media tour • grassroots promotion/information distribution • community workshops • Toll-free helpline • Outcomes: • 8,000 people received person-to-person information and referrals • Media impressions • 465 people participate in 1 hour workshops • 2,831 visited supermarket booths • 4,538 flyers, brochures, collaterals distributed • m250 callers referred to local clinics for screenings
