  5. Mt Sinai THE LAW WAS GIVEN NOT AS A CONDITION OF RELATIONSHIP BUT AS A CONFIRMATION OF A RELATIONSHIP. ~ANDY STANLEY 7

The Law was given to provide guidance on how to live in God’s Kingdom. “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” –Matthew 22:37-40

  7. The Law was given to provide guidance on how to live in God’s Kingdom. Love God Love Others • Worship only God • Pray only to God • Respect God’s name • Remember the Sabbath 5. Honor Father & Mother. 6. Do not murder. 7. Do not commit adultery. 8. Do not steal. 9. Do not lie. 10. Do not covet

  8. The Law was given to prepare us for the Savior. • “The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship…we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. • –Hebrews 10:1-10

  9. The Law was given to point out that we need a Savior. “The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” –Romans 5:20-21
