Action plan, resolution of NCs and granting of accreditation • Laboratory provides an action plan within 1 month to resolve all NCs (including NCs against new requirements raised as “Additional Recommendations”) • Resolution of significant NCs and granting of accreditation - No changes, i.e., • Reassessment and surveillance - 3 months • Initial assessment and assessment for extension - 6 months • Accreditation when all significant NCs are resolved • 15 April 2007: resolution of all outstanding significant NCs against new requirements demonstrated • 15 May 2007: suspension of accreditation if conformity with new requirements not confirmed • Minor NCs – no change, commit to resolve by next reassessment

Example Application : based on 7th edition Assessment : 4 March 2006 Findings : A - Significant NC against 7th edition B - Significant NC against new requirements in 8th edition raised as “additional recommendation” Scenario 1 : A resolved before 15 May 2006  Accreditation to 7th edition  on 15 May 2006, B becomes an NC to be resolved by 15 May 07 • Scenario 2 : • A resolved on or after 15 May 2006 • No accreditation as B has become significant NC and must be resolved before accreditation • When both A & B are resolved, accreditation to 8th edition
