  2. Regular verbs in the present To conjugate –er, -irand –re verbs in the present tense (to say that something is happening or happens), drop the last two letters from the infinitive and add the following endings.

  3. aimer choisir attendre je/j’aime choisis attends tu aimes choisis attends il/elle/on aime choisit attend nous aimons choisissons attendons vous aimez choisissez attendez ils/elles aimen choisissent attendent aimer/choisir/attendre

  4. To make sentences negative put ne…pas around the verb Il attend le bus. Il n’attendpas le bus.

  12. In French, as in English, many verbs are often followed by an infinitive. Some of those verbs are vouloir, devoir, and pouvoir. • Je dois finir mes devoirs. • Use the verb aller with an infinitive to indicate that something is going to happen. • Je vais étudier les arts plastiques cette année. • Use the verb venir (followed by de) with an infinitive to indicate that something just happened. • Caroline vient departir en vacances.
