  2. Course Objectives • 1. To have fun while learning self- confidence, self-control, self-discipline and self-respect. • 2. To gain an understanding and appreciation for dance, dance history and the influence of dance on society and in our daily lives. • 3. To learn a constructive means for self expression and non-verbal communication. • 4. To expand ones higher-level abstract thought process through critical thinking, creativity, and imagination. • 5. To develop choreographic process skills. • 6. To develop sensitivity towards one another when working and performing in groups.

  3. Expectations • 1. Respect yourself, teachers and peers at all times. • 2. Follow all school rules. • 3. Follow directions the first time they are given. • 4. Come to class ready to learn. • 5. No profanity will be tolerated.

  4. Procedures • 1. Students meet in the dance room before the bell rings. A student is considered tardy if they are not inside the dance room when the bell rings and will be sent to the tardy tank. • 2. Attendance will be taken after the bell. • 3. Students will go together to the locker room when instructed by the teacher after attendance is taken. • 4. All dancers will have 7 minutes to change into their workout attire before and after class. • 5. All dancers will be expected to dress in appropriate dance attire everyday. • 6. All dancers will be expected to dance full-out at all times.

  5. Attire • 1. Tops can be short sleeve, and long sleeve. Tops must be all black and may not have any sayings across the front or back of the top. • 2. Bottoms can be moveable capri’s, jazz pants, and sweat capri’s. Shorts will not be allowed. • 3. Cover-ups can be worn to class. This consists of a dance wrap, sweat shirts, or long sleeve top. This is optional. • 4. Shoes- dancers may wear black jazz shoes, ballet shoes, or tennis shoes. Some lessons will allow for bare feet or foot paws. • 5. Hair must be pulled away from the face at all times. • 6. No jewelry will be allowed to wear during dance class.

  6. Supplies • 1. Journals- 180 sheet 5 subject spiral. • 2. Combination Lock.

  7. Grading • 1. You cannot pass dance class if you do not participate. This includes dressing out and dancing everyday. • 2. Daily 40% + Quizzes 30%+Tests 30%= 100%
