  2. Government program that was created in 1971 and funded by Canadian Heritage. • Administered by the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada and by the provinces and territories.

  3. What is Explore? • 5-week intensive language-learning course in French. • $2,000 bursary • Spring or summer session • Unique opportunity to learn your second language while having fun!

  4. Explore gives you… • A chance to learn, practice and improve your French. • Some institutions offer credits. • Wonderful experience while meeting new friends. • Immersion in a French community and discover another part of Canada.

  5. About the Bursary • $2,000 bursary will be given directly to the institution for: • Courses • Meals • Accommodation • The bursary does not cover: • Registration fees • Travel costs • Pocket money

  6. What will you do? • Morning • Three and a half hours of formal instruction in class per day • Courses provided by levels • Beginner • Intermediate • Advanced • Afternoon • Workshops • Outings • Socio-cultural events (e.g., sports event)

  7. Where can you go? (example) • Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières • Spring session is from May 14 to June 15 • Accommodation in student residence • Offers credits

  9. You want to apply? • Fill out the online application - The deadline is February 28. • The lottery - random selection - will happen at the end of March. • Early April, you will be notified by e-mail of the status of your application. • You have 10 working days to accept the bursary.

  10. Eligibility criteria • Canadian citizen or permanent resident. • Be at least in Grade 11 during the preceding school year or be at the postsecondary level. • Have been a full-time student for at least one term during the current school year.
