  1. Project objectives The project schedule Expert role for each project part Reporting Expected role of engine experts

  2. As short as possible response time to participate in the power regulation market Watch for safety, operability and durability First objective

  3. Have less emission of CO, NOx and UHC during start and stop Provide better knowledge on the engine start stop emissions Second objective

  4. Collect further data on start stop emissions Design new start stop procedures Implement new procedures Evaluate (performance and emissions) Repeat (design, implement, and evaluation) Report results Project Schedule

  5. Advise on which data we need to collect during first measuring cycle DGC plans to measure emissions (NOx, UHC, and CO), gas consumption, calculate stoichiometry from exhaust gas analysis. All data will be on a time on a time resolved basis Data needed from the engine control system to facilitate the design process(ignition timing, load settings, air/fuel ratio, response for the cooling system/district heating system …) Engine suppliers and manufactures I

  6. Develop new start and stop procedures Shorter times, less emissions Consider safety, operability and durability aspects Engine suppliers and manufactures II

  7. Provide expected new engine load profile DGC or other expert will consider consistency with existing cooling/district heating system Engine suppliers and manufactures III

  8. Implement new start stop procedures Ensure needed data for evaluation of new procedures from engine control system DGC will perform emission measurements Engine suppliers and manufactures IV

  9. Implement new start stop procedures Ensure needed data for evaluation of new procedures from engine control system DGC will perform emission measurements Engine suppliers and manufactures V • Repeat if needed:

  10. Evaluate results Write short report on results Details about start and stop procedures can be treated confidentially DGC will report on emission measurements Engine suppliers and manufactures VI

  11. Discuss overall project results Start stop times Emissions during start and stop Emission factors Engine suppliers and manufactures VII
