  2. Signpost • The Old Testament is a signpost to God • Points forward to death, burial, resurrection of Jesus

  3. God made clothes for Adam & Eve • What did Adam and Eve do when they sinned and realized they were naked? • Genesis 3:7 • Did God accept their clothing? • Genesis 3:21 • God refused their clothing • Killed and made animal clothes for them • To be accepted by God • Admit he’s a sinner and stop trusting in his own works • Put his faith in Jesus and His finished work • God clothes all believers with the righteousness of Jesus Christ

  4. Cain and Abels’ offerings • Whose offering did God accept? • Genesis 4:1-5 • Why did God reject Cain & his offering? • Cain came to God in his own way • Offering from the field • Abel came according to God’s way • Blood sacrifice • Blood sacrifice reminds us of Jesus • John 1:29

  5. Noah and the ark • How were people in Noah’s time living before the flood? • Genesis 6:5 • Man’s wickedness provoked God to destroy the world • Genesis 6:7 • Genesis 6:8,9,13,14 • God spared Noah and his family • Genesis 6:16 • One door • John 14:6 • Jesus is the only saviour

  7. Passover • All Egyptians lost their firstborn • God made a way for the Israelites to escape punishment • 1. A lamb without blemish • Exodus 12:5 • Just as Jesus was sinless, lambs were without blemish • 2. The lamb had to die • Exodus 12:6 • Israelites were not to break the bones of the lamb

  8. Passover: God made a way of escape • 3. The lamb’s blood had to be applied • Had to get blood and apply it to door • Exodus 12:7 • Must actively believe in Jesus’ sacrifice to be saved • 4. None of the Israelites’ firstborn died • Exodus 12:27 • God passed over every house with the blood, just as He promised • John 3:16

The mercy seat • God delivered the Israelites • Led them through the Red Sea, to Mount Sinai • Gave His commandments • Told them to build a tabernacle • Hebrews 9:7, 10:2-4 • Blood of animals could never pay for sin • Mark 15:37-38 • Curtain hung in front of most holy place • God showed that Jesus paid full price for sin
