  2. Goals • Understand parts of the computer. • Learn new reading skills. • Understand computer rules. • Be able to find dictionaries , stories, and pictures.

  3. What you will learn…… • Computer Vocabulary • How to: • Start the computer • Locate “Harry the Dirty Dog” on-line • Create vocabulary files • Write short story • Exit and save work

  5. We are going to use • Audio • Video • Graphics

  6. Where do I go to read on-line? Students will report to the Computer Center during reading time for assignments.

  7. What now? • Students will log on to computer. • Students will locate the “Harry the Dirty Dog” online. • Students will complete reading assignment. • Students will write a short summary. • Students will save the story.

  8. Log on to the computer • Click on the start button • Type in your name • Click on the internet button

  11. Using the computer to write a short story In your story, tell me how Harry got so dirty. Tell me what Harry did with the scrub brush. Write about your favorite part of the story.

  12. Save your story • Click on save as • Type in your story name • Click the save button

  14. You are not at the Computer Center…what do you do? If you are not working on the computers, you will be at your desks reading the hard copy of “Harry the Dirty Dog”.

  15. Supplies you will need…. • “Harry the Dirty Dog” book • Crayons • Paper

  16. Now What? Once you are done reading you will need to draw a picture of your favorite dog or you can draw a picture of Harry with you at your house.

  17. Completed all the assignments? Its time to review!

  18. Partner up vocabulary review Sit with your partner You quiz them on vocabulary words Then they quiz you.
