  4. The Kitimat River Estuary One of the 5 largest estuaries on BC’s North Coast Ducks Unlimited ranking “One of BC’s most important estuaries” Top 3 north coast estuaries in total Biological and Social Values

  5. Fishers from BC, Alberta • and the world • come here to fish • Why?

  7. The Kitimat and Douglas Channel river systems have attracted recreational anglers for decades. Some have an extremely high profile. Carey Price Kevin Costner Rt. Hon. John Diefenbaker

  8. Hunters, as well as fishers, depend on the Kitimat River Estuary

  9. The estuary is a significant avian area

  10. Great Blue Herons, a blue-listed species, spend the winter months at the estuary. This is critical habitat for these birds.

  11. The estuary and Douglas Channel have immense recreational values

  12. Author John Kimantas predicts Douglas Channel will evolve into a world class kayaking destination.

  13. Eco-tourism on the estuary and throughout the Douglas Channel system is second to none. It is world class

  14. Northern Gateway is not an acceptable risk. We have too much to lose! Harmony and Balance
