  3. Objectives: • The students will be able to define the structure of a haiku poem. • The students will be able to write a haiku poem and draw images describing it.

  4. Focus Lesson: Haiku • Background • Structure and language • Video • Pre-reading for the main idea • Whole Class Reading: p. 419 • Assessment: draw a picture of a favorite place and write an accompanying haiku.
