  7. Surveillance of Space (SofS)Project Successfully Launched Sapphire - Feb 2013 • Provide Canada with assured access to orbital data on space objects of Canadian national interest via the acquisition and deployment of a space-based sensor system (Sapphire System) • In February 2013, successfully launched Sapphire, Canada’s first dedicated operational military satellite Inspecting Sapphire… DND & MDA team in front of rocket Lift-off!

  8. Polar Epsilon (PE) Project Full Operational Capability - Mar 2012 • Using data from Canada's RADARSAT 2, for improved surveillance of the Arctic and maritime approaches to Canada • Ground stations are wholly owned and operated by the Government of Canada Polar Epsilon team receiving IM Group Nova Award

  9. Canadian Forces HealthInformation System (CFHIS) Project Project Successfully Delivered - Sep 2012 • Implemented a secure healthcare information system that allows Canadian Forces health care providers located at clinics across Canada and abroad to access and update patient history in real-time

  10. Defence Learning Network(DLN) Project Full Operational Capability - Sep 2013 • Enterprise web-based portal that provides an integrated, enterprise-wide capability for developing, delivering, managing and administering the training, learning and professional development • Enables blended learning – instructor led training, e-learning, communities of practice and virtual classrooms Defence Learning Network logo At a launch session in Halifax Sep 2013 – Govt Technology Exhibition & Conference (GTEC) Honourees Gala 10

  11. Canadian Forces Weather and Oceanographic Services (CFWOS) Transformation Project • Project to transform CF Weather forecasting and briefing processes by consolidating into 3 locations and utilizing IT-enabled remote briefings • Improved operational efficiency and ability to respond to emerging DND requirements • Continued excellent support of local staff for building renovations and installations Photos: CFWOS System Weather map; Joint Meteorological Centre in Gagetown CFWOS delivers remote weather briefing capability to operators 11

  12. Mercury Global (MG) Project - Early Access • Global assured access to Ka and X band communications • Communication links with operational forces deployed domestically or internationally • Interim capability today – 31 to 38 CF Missions concurrently at 1.54 Mbps • Interoperability and strategic communications with Other Government Departments and Allies • Military SatCom has arrived, operational community needs to plan timely transition to MILSATCOM moving away from Commercial Services Interim capability only but High BW is “at the door”, requiring IM/IT infrastructure changes 12

  13. Mercury Global (MG) Project - Steady State 11m Dish East Coast West Coast Central Region Note the full-size trees • 3 sites in Canada (CF Bases) • Each site able to simultaneously support 125+ 12Mbps Comm Links (750MBps total capacity) • “Game Changer” (Organizational and CONOPS Changes) • Continued great support from our coastal partners N6, BIS Hugely higher data throughputs / Network must be ready for it by Spring 2016 13

  14. Protected MILSATCOM (PMSC) Project • Global (less poles) assured access to protected communications; ensures worldwide C2 capabilities • DND will have guaranteed access to satellite communications (for the first time) • 41 AEHF Terminals will be delivered along with a Mission Planning Capability • 19 Transportables (SMART-Ts) • 22 Naval Multi-Band Terminals (NMTs) - 4 Shore, 13 Ship, 4 Sub, 1 Trainer PMSC brings higher - BW “protected” communications – little impact to current IM/IT 14

  15. Joint Space Support Project (JSSP) • JSSP improves the situational awareness of the Joint Task Force Commander through delivery of highly responsive space effects directly in theatre • URSA provides a deployable capability to deliver near real-time, unclassified, wide-area, space-based surveillance • SSA generates classified reports, in near real-time, detailing what the space-based sensor threat is for the selected area and period Much improved SA available to commanders in the field 15

  16. Joint Command System (Air)(JCS(Air)) Project • Provide automated Battle Management tools to support Situational Awareness (SA), Decision Support (DS) and other C2 functions • Fleet & crew resource management capability (Unit Level Tool) to Air Force units and wings • Growth of CSNI presence at most RCAF units by as much as 160% will require support • Success of delivery is dependent on the readiness and availability of users as budgeted delivery time is limited at each unit JCS(Air) may require increases in bandwidth to support improved functionality 16

  17. Defence Cryptographic Modernization Project - Network Encryption Family (Def CMP (NEF)) • Will update all Network, Link (ADDN, Ships, Submarines, Aircrafts) and Fleet Broadcast Encryptors affected by End Of Life • Provides modern algorithms, secure interoperability, increased bandwidth, Over The Net Keying (OTNK) and IPv6 compliance Safeguard classified information and maintain DND’s ability to establish secure communications both nationally and internationally 17

  18. Recognition and Awards Government Technology Exhibition and Conference (GTEC) Awards, recognizing excellence across 3 levels of government 2013 - Defence Learning Network (Honouree) 2012 - Enterprise IT Service Management (Honouree) 2012 - CF Health Information System (Distinction) 2012 - Polar Epsilon (Judges’ Choice) 2012 IM Group Nova Awards – Merit Level Defence CMP Link Encryption Family CF Health Information System Joint Command System (Air) Mercury Global Lunar Eclipse 2012 IM/IT Community Recognition Award Polar Epsilon for IM Excellence in Project Management 18
