  2. Informative Writing PROMPT: In Alabama History, you are learning about Alabama during the early 1800’s. We are learning about those early settlers from other areas, known as the pioneers. While researching pioneer life, think about 3 aspects of pioneer life that you would like to focus on. Use your research to write an informative paper on pioneer life.   5. Informative Writing • The next step in completing your outline is to complete your triangles. • Your triangles are the 3 different aspects of pioneer life. • Your three different facts should not be closely related. Try not to repeat facts and details.

  9. Informative Writing • In science, you are learning many facts about animals. Choose one animal that you would like to research. Use your research to write an informative paper on your animal. Pioneer Life The safest way for the pioneers to travel was with a wagon train. The pioneers were the first people to settle in the frontiers of North America.  By the time many of the pioneers reached their final destination, they had many stories to tell.

  11. Informative Writing: Fact #1 •The first set of circles must only be about the triangle (fact) they are located under. Put information in your own words! Many of the pioneers were farmers. The pioneers were the first people to settle in the frontiers of North America.  There were also doctors, blacksmiths, ministers, shop owners, lawyers, etc Many were looking for adventure or just the possibility of improving their lives. 

  12. Informative Writing: Fact #2 •The next set of circles must only be about the triangle (fact) they are located under. Put information in your own words! They would pack their most treasured belongings, furniture, and what they needed for the journey into a covered wagon. The safest way for the pioneers to travel was with a wagon train. The richest people brought two wagons with them, which allowed one to act as a moving van and the other as a camper.  Wagon masters led the train, cowboys rode along and helped the wagons as they crossed difficult terrain and rivers. 

  13. Informative Writing: Fact #3 •The last set of circles must only be about the triangle (fact) they are located under. Put information in your own words! Very few made it all the way without losing, or having to leave along the trail, many of their belongings.  By the time many of the pioneers reached their final destination, they had many stories to tell. One of the first things the pioneers did when they got to their new homes was buy land.  An acre of land cost about $2.00.  Today, that seems like an amazing deal, but to these pioneers it was a lot of money. Once they moved onto their lands, they had to clear the land in order to plant their crops.  Many didn't have time to build their homes so they lived in a lean-to, tents or their wagons.

The trip was a long, hard and dangerous one. 3rd Sentence: Sentence about your topic (include your 3 triangles : facts) I learned who the pioneers were, how they traveled, and what they did once their journey came to an end. 4th Sentence: Effect After you read this information about pioneers, you will want to learn more about pioneer life.
