Partnership for civil society Status of PPWG Establishment • Formed in 1998 as sub-group of the governance partnership group Status • Informal forum for organisations and professionals to get together and exchange information and ideas on issues relating to people’s participation Goal • Support the Gov’t to enhance people’s participation in their own development and the development process in Vietnam

Partnership for civil society Status of PPWG (cont’d) Objectives • Promote an enabling environment and capacity building for enhanced people’s participation • Promote co-ordination of activities for efficient use of resources invested in this area Reached through ... • Information- and knowledge sharing • Clarification of concepts commonly used • Promotion of dialogue between different stakeholders

Partnership for civil society Set-up of PPWG Core-group • 8-10 participants from PPWG representing Donors, INGOs, researchers • Meets regularly to discuss direction, admin matters, organise meetings etc. Participants • +100 individuals, mainly based in Hanoi, from donor agencies and INGOs Strategic partners • Vietnamese governmental bodies and non-governmental organisations
