  2. Plains • Low, flat, level land

  3. Mountain Ridges • Long stretches of land that rise steeply above the surrounding land • Part of the Appalachian Mountain chain • Allegheny, Pocono

  4. Valleys • Long, somewhat level land, located between mountains and hills • Our school is located in the Lackawanna Valley.

  5. Plateau • Land that is higher than the surrounding land, but mostly flat on top • Our state’s plateau is so big that it has other land features on top of it.

  6. Gorges • Deep, narrow passages through the land with steep rocky sides

  7. Glens • Narrow valleys will water running through them

  8. River System • Smaller rivers that run into larger rivers • Susquehanna, Delaware, and Ohio

  9. Plants • Forests: oak, hickory, beech, pine, etc. • Hemlock- our state tree • Mountain Laurel- our state flower

  10. Animals • Black bears • Raccoons • Foxes • Turkeys • Bobcats • Whitetail deer- our state animal • Ruffed grouse- our state bird
