GENERAL ISSUES ON GOVERNANCE • Faculty handbook: Covers a wide area of topics and is updated annually. • Covers many faculty issues including promotion and employment. • This may be accessed on the Babson Portal under “academic affairs links.” • Policies & Procedures: Appendix A of the faculty handbook is titled • “Policies and Procedures of the Board of Trustees Governing the Appointment, • Tenure, Salary and Rank of Full-Time Faculty and the Appointment of Part-Time • Faculty.” Approved by the Board of Trustees, this is a compilation of the rules • relating to faculty appointments, dismissals, tenure, academic rank and titles, • salary scales, academic freedom and related matters. • Faculty Senate Bylaws: These describe the purposes of the faculty Senate, • articulate the rules regarding organization, membership, elections, meetings, • responsibilities and powers of senators, and of the Senate Executive Committee; • and describe the relationship of the Senate to the Faculty. This may also be • accessed on the Babson Portal under “academic affairs links.”
