Background • April 5th 1969- Born in Rheydt, Germany • 1989-1992- Studied at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts, Münster Academy of Fine Arts, and Hamburg Academy of Fine Arts, Germany • 1999-2003- Served as a guest professor at several art schools including: • De Ateliers, Amsterdam • The Academy of Fine Arts, Hamburg • The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen • 2009- Nominated as professor of sculpting to the University of Art Berlin • Lives and works in Rheydt

  8. Cube • 2005- Invited to realize the CUBE VENICE at The Piazza di San Marco in Venice during Biennale • Inspired by the Kaabain Mecca • 2007- CUBE HAMBURG

  9. Bondi Beach, 21 beach cells • 2007- 400 square meters installation composed of 21 identical cells on the Australian eastcoast, the Bondi Beach

  10. End • November 8, 2008 - September 6, 2009- 14 meter high, black outdoor-sculpture "END" accessible to the public • In front of the museum Abteibergin Mönchengladbach

  11. Controversy • 2008- Raised controversy about his own couched idea • "I want to show a person, which dies a natural death or just died a natural death. My target is to show the beauty of death.“ • Wants to lead death out of the social taboo with this public dying-room and make it into a positive experience similar to the birth of a human being.
