Present case study

  • A typical milk union in Maharashtra
  • 138 pick up points
  • Milk collected in two shifts
  • Routing is manually planned
  • Farthest point first

Vehicle types and their carrying capacity

  • Tata 407 = 44 cans
  • Mahindra max = 40 cans
  • Minidor = 20 cans
  • Rickshaw = 8 cans
  • * each can of 40 lit capacity.

Milk procurement transportation from villages

  • All vehicles -Start from Dairy plant
  • - Come back to Dairy plant
  • Dairy co-operative Society – Source points
  • Dairy Plant – Sink point
  • Volumes change : Summer and Winter
  • Medium sized union – 800 source points, 4-6 Chilling centers/Dairy plants
