B O N N E V I L L E P O W E R A D M I N I S T R A T I O N Transmission West from Montana • To gain 500MW of transmission capacity, The Montana to Washington Transmission Upgrade Project (M2W) requires a new compensation station, upgrades at 5 existing substations, and line reconductoring. • In addition: • Transmission on BPA’s system also requires construction of the Central Ferry – Lower Monumental 500 kV line (38 miles, 800 MW renewables, DEC 2015 energization) • System expansion requires generator dropping via RAS. • Transmission west from MT also requires 500 kV upgrades on NorthWestern Energy’s system (the Colstrip Upgrade Project or CUP-East)
