Regional policy for development of rural areas What kinds of support are needed by rural areas?Will separate programmes for rural development be advatageous for rural areas (context of the new European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development)?Common objectives but different actions? How should programming look like?Conclusion: actions aimed in supporting rural areas should be a part of operational programmes designed for the whole region.

Creation of good conditions for SMEs development...Support for scientific research the results of which can be absorbed by SMEs...Small grants for innovative investments to be made by start-ups...Conclusion: indirect support to enterprises may be more effective and are more transparent than direct grants.
