Introductıon • The main objective of University sport is, by interacting students themselves in the form of competition they can develop their different qualities. • Such as, improving interpersonal skill, enhancing their cognitive awareness like accepting of referee’s judgments in the competition, perhaps, they can develop their psychomotor skill.

  3. Cont’d… • Sports are among the most practical, argued, and wondered features of the life we share in common with others. • Sport reflects in many ways the norms and values of the societies and cultures of which it is a part.

  4. Ethics and University Sport • Ethics in sport as the systematic application of moral rules, principles, values and norms. • Ethics is a set of standards that guide our conduct.

  5. Principles of Ethics • trustworthiness • respect • responsibility • fairness • caring • citizenship

  6. TRUSTWORTHINESS • Always pursue victory with honor. • Demonstrate and demand integrity. • Observe and implement the spirit and the rules. • Do not engage in dishonesty, cheating, or dishonorable conduct.

  7. RESPECT • Treat the norms/customs of the sport and other participants with respect. • Do not engage in or tolerate disrespectful conduct, including verbal abuse of opponents and officials, trash talking, insulting and inappropriate celebrations. • Win with grace and lose with dignity.

  8. RESPONSIBILITY • Be a positive role model on and off the field. • Take responsibility and educate yourself about issues of anti-doping.

  9. FAIRNESS • Adhere to high standards of fair play. • Never take an unfair advantage.

  10. CARING • Demonstrate concern for others. Never engage in reckless/irresponsible behavior that could injure yourself or others. • Help the team by encouraging your teammates. • Never tolerate unhealthy or dangerous conduct by your teammate.

  11. CITIZENSHIP • Play by the rules and follow the spirit of the rules. Resist the temptation to gain an advantage by bending the rules. • Take pride in your performance while abiding by the rules. • As a member of a community, whether on a team, in a classroom, or with a family, think about how your choices impact other community members.

  12. Cont’d… • These values can be seen in many different areas of sport such as participation trends, players’ conduct or the actions of administrators, design of disciplinary processes or team selection.

Cont’d… • Every participant in university sport, regardless of the role, has a right to be treated with respect, dignity and fairness, and to participate in an environment that is enjoyable and safe. Harassment, abuse and other forms of inappropriate behavior in sport deny participants these rights.

Cont’d… • So every university students, teachers, families and the community at large they keep the university sports ethics from unsuitable ethical approaches. • Through educational trainings, workshops, seminars, sportive festivals and events we can develop the sport families misinterpretations and misunderstandings.

To Conclude • With keeping of the aforementioned values and standards we can enhance the University sport activities in the country and all over the world at large. • These values have played a great role to produce/create healthy generation. In this regard, families, professionals, officials have a responsibility to achieve this Ethical issues in the University sport competition.
