  2. Overland Trail • The Trail was used by stagecoaches and wagons. • Explorers and trappers used this route before in the 1820s. • This trail was use as an alternative rout to California, Oregon, and Mormon Trail.

  3. Mormon Trail • This trail was 1,300 miles long. • The trail connects Nauvoo, Illinois and Salt lake City, Utah. • The trail was used 20 years before the First Transcontinental Railroad. • In modern time this trail is part of the National Trails System.

  4. Santa Fe Trail • The trail ran from Missouri to Santa Fe, New Mexico. • The Santa Fe Trail was a trade route between Mexico and U.S. • Americans traded with the Comache on the trail.

  5. Central Overland Route • This route started in Salt Lake City, Utah and ended in mountains in Nevada. • The U.S. Army used this route to transport supplies.

  6. Oregon Trail • The Oregon Trail was connected to various towns. • The trail was 2,000 miles long. • Fur trader made improvements to this trail over the years.
