  1. AMM Continuously Strengthen Cooperationbetween China and Kazakhstan and Jointly Promote the Development of Mineral Resources Dr. Li Wenyuan CGS, Ministry of Land and Resources, PRC

  2. It is my great honor to attend the Astana Mining and Metallurgy Congress. I represent Mr. Jiang Daming, China’s minister of the Ministry of Land and Resources ( MLR ), to thank first vice-minister Albert Rau of Industry and New Technologies for his kind invitation. My topic is on Continuously Strengthen Cooperationbetween China and Kazakhstan and Jointly Promote the Development of Mineral Resources.

  3. Include 3 contents: • On cooperationbetween China and Kazakhstan in geology and mineral resources • Progress of mineral exploration in China • For a suggestion

  4. Firstly, Ministry of Land and Resources, PRC has placed great importance on work of Subcommittee on Geology and Mineral Resources under the Sino-Kazakhstan Cooperation Committee. In November of last year, the sixth conference of the subcommittee had been held in Kazakhstan. Experts of both countries together completed a series of projects on geology and mineral resources.

  7. We hope to have more cooperation in geology and mineral resources between China and Kazakhstan, and extend cooperation field.

  8. Secondly, I want to introduce the progress of mineral exploration in China. In 2011, China's government unveiled National Planning on Mineral Exploration & Development （2011-2020）. It consists of three parts, general idea, main tasks, organization and security.

  9. General Idea • To save resources and protect environment • According to market economy rule of geological work • To attract social capital investment into mineral exploration and development • To guarantee capacity of mineral resources

  10. Main Tasks 1 Basic geological survey and research 1.1 Basic geological survey 1.2 Investigation of oil and gas resources 1.3 Mineral prospective survey 1.4 Geological science and technology

  12. 2 Important mineral exploration 2.1 Oil and gas resource exploration 2.2 Important solid mineral exploration The focus of minerals: aranium, ferrum, copper, bauxite, potassium, lead, zinc and gold, and so on. 2.3 The old mine prospecting 3 Conservation and comprehensive utilization of mineral resources

  13. Organization and security 1 Strengthen the organization and leadership 2 Coordinate all kinds of fund ( the central and local governments and enterprises ) 3 Give full play to the role of market mechanism 4 The minerals of different management

  14. 5 Develop and protect the ecological environment and mineral resources exploration 6 Improve the management of mining right 7 Strengthen the market order and quality supervision 6 Strengthen science and technology innovation and youth training

  15. In the past three years, great achievements have been made in exploration and exploitation of mineral resources. For example, petroleum, natural gas, coal, iron, copper, nickel deposits, and so on.

  16. Especially, there are new findings in Northwest China

  17. Awulale iron deposit in the western part of Tianshan volcanic type iron deposit

  18. Tashkurgan iron deposit BIF iron deposit in the western part of Kunlun

  19. Sareke copper deposit sandstone type copper deposit in the westsouthern part of Tianshan

  20. Pabei magmatic niclel-copper sulfide deposit in the Beishan

  21. Dachang gold deposit in the eastern part of Kunlun

  22. Xiarihamu magmatic niclel-copper sulfide deposit in the eastern part of Kunlun

  23. Thirdly, we suggest to establish a research center of geoscience on regional international cooperation for Central Asia on the basis of theme of the AMM.

  24. Target • 1 To deepen cooperative research and exchange on geoscience in Central Asia • 2 The forming mechanism and prevention of geo-hazard • 3 To train youth talent in the field of geology and mineral resources
