Special Educator Eligibility (SEE) SEE approval cycle – Maximum of 3 school years The applicant must: • Hold a valid CDE Educator (teaching) license • Is enrolled in an approved special education teacher preparation program through an IHE (Institution of Higher Education) The administrative unit (district) or eligible facility must: • Submit SEE forms (application and verification) with appropriate signatures (teacher and SPED Director) for 1st year • Submit SEE verification form for 2nd and 3rd year approval • available only with documented IHE program progress Teacher is eligible to be HQT (Highly Qualified Teacher) • Holds a CDE Educator (teaching) license • HQ determined by NCLB requirements (core assignment and subject matter competency) ) 25

College credit from these colleges is not acceptable for licensure or renewal credit in Colorado. • Colorado state statute 22-60.5-102(1) defines an “Accepted institution of higher education” as a regionally accredited university for licensure purposes. • CDE is able to accept an official transcript from United States territories. They are not required to have their transcripts evaluated for equivalency. These territories are not considered foreign countries. • American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. • Canadian transcripts are acceptable as long as they are in English 27

A s has always been the case, applicants who renew their Colorado Professional Licenses must submit documentation of having completed 6 - semester hours or 90 - clock hours of professional development activities (see below). 1. Under a new State Statute , intended to keep your knowledge of your content area(s) up - to - date, educator license renewal credits must be related to your current endorsement area or potential endorsement area. Career and Technical Education • CDE is now evaluating for the CTE credential and the CTE License • Application can be downloaded from our website at http://www.cde.state.co.us/cdeprof/cte.htm • CTE credential holders must renew their credential through CDE. • Questions about CTE can be sent to cte@cde.state.co.us • One evaluation fee now required to apply for CTE credential and CTE License • CTE credential endorsements have been added to valid teaching licenses if the credential and license type matched 44
