  3. Two Items for Your Approval • 1. 2014 – 2015 Calendar -- Adjustments to the already approved Calendar based upon the Tentative Negotiated Agreement • 2. 2015 – 2016 Calendar – Survey Results and Proposals based on Two Calendar Options

  4. 2014 – 2015 Adjustments Original Calendar Proposed Calendar Total 4 Teacher Contract Days • 4 Teacher Contract Days (as previously) • 3 Additional Teacher Contract Days by tentative negotiation • 1 Legislative Instructional Exemption day Total 8 Teacher Contract Days

  8. Recommendation for 2014 – 2015 Calendar To add 2.5 TCD (for a total of 5)before the first day of school To add full TCD to the end of terms for an additional 1.5 days (for a total of 3) To calendar the Legislative Instruction Exemption Day during Spring Break

Survey Comments • 126 - Love finishing by Memorial Day • 94 - Prefer a later start as it’s too hot in August • 65 - Want a week long spring break • 32 - Thanked us for the survey • 18 - Like starting school in the mid-week • 17 - Cannot understand why we don’t start after Labor Day and end before Memorial Day • 16 - Desire to start after Labor Day and go longer • 12 - Feel two weeks is too long at Christmas

Summary of Options 2015 - 2016 Option A – Employees and Community Councils (Early) Option B -- Individual Patrons (Late) • Starts Aug 19, 2015 (Wed.) • Ends May 27, 2016 (before Memorial Day) • Starts Aug 24, 2015 (Mon.) • Ends June 3, 2016 (after Memorial Day) • Includes a 4 day weekend for Memorial Day (because of the Legislative Instructional Exemption Day)
