  10. Three Choices eMoviX: a micro distro meant to be embedded in a CD together with video/audio files . MoviX: a mini CD Linux distro able to boot directly from CD and load in RAM a console interface to MPlayer. MoviX2:same as MoviX, but it makes use of X and the nice MPlayer GUI.

  11. Capabilities It can play: DVDs, VCDs, audio/video files Audio CD, internet radios, TV, you name it! It can boot from: CD, HD, USB pen, CF card and from the net.

  12. Supported formats All formats supported by MPlayer, • Most remarkably DivX and XviD and • Generally AVI, MPG, QuickTime, WMV, ASF, MP3, OGG/VORBIS and a few others.

Well, its main purpose is to play DivX movies and, as everybody usually calls this kind of projects DivX boxes, we have just prepended a "GeeX", cause that's for the geeks you all are ;-)

  28. Concluding Remarks There are exciting possibilities when distros develop, not based on corporate agenda and commercial motives. Open-nature of Linux encourages participation and dynamism, foolproof gurantees against stagnation. Synergy is realised when resources, talents and imagination are given the full freedom. Competition and the process of natural selection brings the best products to the users. Linux and Multimedia are made for each other !
