  3. Who Are The Tamaqua Leo's? • The Tamaqua Leo Club is a project of the Tamaqua Lion’s • We are a group of middle and high school students who want to serve in the surrounding areas and community.

  4. What Does It Mean To Be A Leo? • As Leo’s , we are established to promote activities among the youth of the community which will develop the individual qualities of Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity. • We are here to unite its members in friendship, fellowship and mutual understanding.

What Do We Do? • Community Service • Art of Caring * • American Cancer Society (Chinese Auction) • Volunteer for the Owl Creek Egg Hunt • Collect eye glasses • Train Station maintenance • Summerfest • Help with the Lion’s BBQ • Old cell phone collection • D.A.R.E. program • Relay for Life • Daffodil days for 5th floor residents at Coaldale’s Miners Memorial Hospital • Other Activities • Trolley decoration for Halloween parade • White- water rafting • Hickory Run State Park • Leo Club Rally/Convention • American Cancer Society Telethon • Needy Tree decorating • Press releases • Hospital caroling • Salvation Army bell ringers • Leadership Seminar (High School Juniors Only!)

  7. How Is This Group Beneficial To Me? • Being a Leo means you have a lot of respect from the community. You are regarded as the ‘good guy’ in many situations. • Many people are impressed to know if you are a member of a Leo club • You get connections • Looks good on the following: • Job applications • Resumes • College applications • National Honor Society applications (high school)

  9. Train Station Weeding LEO’s Erin, Jill, Bethany, and Rachel helped clean the Tamaqua train station and took care of the weeds.

  10. Art of Caring LEO Bryan putting a plaque on one of the paintings in the hospital.

  11. BINGO Time! LEO’s Dennie and Michael are callers for Bingo at St. Luke’s Miners Memorial Hospital in Coaldale

  12. Needy Tree Every year, the Leo club does the Needy Tree decorating during the Christmas time downtown at the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce

  13. Heritage Day The Leo’s volunteer for the Heritage festival

  15. LEO Rally (2009) Tamaqua Leo’s hosted the 2009 rally up at the Lakeside Ballroom. Here, Leo Jill, Leo Makia, Advisor Sue, and Leo Erica demonstrate one of the games.
