  1. Time for 2011-12 Scheduling Scheduling Using the Student Portal in Infinite Campus

  2. It’s time to choose classes for the 2011-12 school year…. • SCHEDULING RESOURCES: • The 2011-12 Scheduling Guide contains lists of courses and course descriptions and are available on your class website. • Your scheduling worksheet has portal instructions at the bottom. • This PowerPoint will be available on all counselor websites for student use.

  3. Things to Remember…. • Choose classes for the whole year; 3 trimesters. • You must have passed the prerequisites before choosing certain classes. • Some classes have gender and grade restrictions. • Required classes are chosen for you; you choose your electives.

  4. More Things to Remember… • If you failed a required class, make sure you choose the correct part to retake. Part A of courses ends in “4”.Part B ends in “5”. • Example: 42320115 is Part B of Sophomore English. Choose this if you failed the 2nd part of 10th grade English.

  5. Choose ALL required parts… • Classes are either 1, 2, or 3 trimesters long. Make sure you choose all parts if all parts are required. You can find this out in your Scheduling Guide. • Example: Band is year-long so you would choose all 3 parts.

  6. Applications are required for certain classes… • Like student aide, newspaper staff, yearbook staff, COOP… • If an application is required, it will tell you that in the course description section of your Scheduling Guide. • Get the application from the sponsor or from your counselor.

  7. Make sure you prepare a complete schedule… • In a 3 X 5 trimester schedule, there are 15 separate courses that you must select to make a complete schedule. Each part of a course counts separately. • Please choose at least 3 alternate courses just in case a class you want is full or doesn’t fit in your schedule.

  8. Schedule Changes… • Once a trimester has started, you MAY NOT change your schedule. • ALL schedule change requests must be made prior to the last week of the current trimester. • Counselors may change your schedule to repeat a failed class.

  9. Scheduling Worksheet… • Your required classes have been pre-selected for you based on last year. If you desire a level change, draw a line through the incorrect level and write your requested level above it. Your counselor will check your records and make the change for you if appropriate.

  10. Directions for Student Portal use are… • listed at the bottom of the worksheet for future reference. This PowerPoint will also be available on your counselor’s website to review. • The portal will close MARCH 18 so all course selections must be done by then. • Turn in your scheduling worksheet to your counselor. You may update your portal as needed until the deadline date.

  14. Now you should request your electives and/or courses you need to make-up… • Click on “Course Search” and type in all or part of the course name you’re interested in. The fewer letters you put in, the better. Click “Go”

  17. Continue requesting courses… • You will continue requesting courses until you have a total of 15 courses/30 units. After that you can only choose alternates.
