    7. 7 JMAC (Joint Maritime Assault Craft) sponsored a program called Maintenance Information Backbone (MIB) The purpose of this program was to demonstrated the benefits of using open standards for the exchange of machinery operational data and CBM related parameters to provide a overall platform situational awareness. This project developed an embedded OSA-CBM system for a main propulsion unit onboard an LCAC (Landing Craft Air Cushioned). This system is currently fielded at a Gas Turbine Test Facility. The OSA-CBM architecture was developed for a main gas turbine engine and reduction gearbox. An OSA-CBM interface module was developed to convert legacy FADEC (Full Authority Digital Electronics Control) data into OSA-CBM format messages (DM Layer). The gas turbine engine also utilized a data acquisition board (DA-layer) to collect data from pressure sensors. The gearbox section of the architecture generates diagnostic and prognostic prediction from data collected from a transitional failure test performed at ARL. These two systems are monitored, using OSA-CBM, on an embedded PC104 platform. The The results from these two system were feed to an overall craft platform computer (touch screen computer). The craft computer fused data from each sub-system to provide an overall craft HA, PA and AG layer.
