  5. Climate in Shanghai Best season: spring and autumn, good for visiting; comfortable for living, but unfortunately both are short. Least favorable timing: Mei-yu season (Plum Rain Season, when plums around the Yangtze river ripen), hot and humid, lasts about a month in early Summer. Typhoon: normally arrive from late August and through the first twenty days of September, bringing heavy rain in their wake. Winter: snow does not happen every winter. No public heating system in this area, so you could feel very cold even indoor.
