  3. The Capital • A Sum of Money • Symbolizes the Gospel • Each servant given a pound • We have the Treasure of the Gospel

  4. The Business • Occupy • “do business till I come” • “trade ye herewith till I come” • Gospel = use or distribute

  5. The Audit • First Servant • Humble attitude • Gained ten pounds • Commended • Rewarded

  6. The Audit • Second Servant • Easy going • True servant • Gained five pounds • Rewarded

  7. The Audit • Third Servant • Did nothing • No sense of responsibility • Tried to justify his behavior • “wicked servant” • Sin of omission

  8. Lessons • Not same as Parable of Talents • Each servant has same • Gospel – build up the kingdom • 1 Thes. 2:4 “put in trust with the gospel” • 1 Tim. 1:11 “gospel…committed to my trust” • 1 Tim. 6:20 “keep that which is committed to thy trust”

Lessons • Use it or Lose It • Luke 19:26 “I say unto you, that unto every one that hath shall be given; but from him that hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken away from him.” • Neglect to use trust committed to him • What we use we have • Abilities to serve become less when we refuse to use the opportunities

  10. Parable of the Pounds “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:2 “I can’t” - - - “I do not wish to try” Attitude of 1st servant - Do the Best I can
