A compound sentence contains two independent clauses.

Complex sentence
Complex Sentence

A complex sentence contains one independent clause and one dependent clause.

Because he was hungry, Mr. Roshto ate all the donuts at Krispy Kreme.


Compound complex sentence
Compound-Complex Sentence

A compound-complex sentence contains two independent clauses and one dependent clause.

Because he was hungry, Mr. Roshto ate all the donuts at Krispy Kreme, and he exploded.
