  5. Materials used • 2 cardboard boxes • 3 ramps • 1 tennis ball • 2 golf balls • Lever • 3 cardboard tubes • 1 file • Toy truck • 6 books • Water tube • Tooth paste

  6. Process • Step 1: Tennis ball rolls down the ramp, which is elevated on one side by the cardboard box. • Step 2: The tennis ball hits down a vertically-standing box. • Step 3: The box falls down which hits one side of a lever. • Step 4: The other side of the lever is raised which in turn hits another horizontally-positioned tube on the right hand side.(Note: there is a golf ball already inside the tube)

  7. Process • Step 5: The ball rolls down the now this way: positioned tube, with the right-side elevated, causing the ball to roll down towards the left side and out of the hollow tube. • Step 6: The golf ball now emerges from the left end of the tube and drops onto a ramp, which then causes the ball to roll down the ramp.

  8. Process • Step 7: At the end of the ramp, there is a toy truck. In front of the toy truck, there is another ramp, with a golf ball sitting at the top. • Step 8: The ball rolling down the ramp pushes the toy truck forward. • Step 9: The truck hits down the ball, which causes it to roll down the ramp.

  9. Process • Step 10: At the end of the ramp, there are 5 books set up in domino fashion. At the end of the 5 books, there is a tube lying on top a water tube. • Step 11: The ball leaves the ramp and hits down the first book, which hits down the second, third, fourth and finally the fifth.

  10. Process • Step 12: The fifth book falls and pushes the tube on the water tube forward, which is positioned at the tip of a book. Underneath the book, there is a toothpaste. • Step 13: The tube is pushed forward by the falling of the fifth book, which pushes the final book forward, causing it to fall on the body of the toothpaste.

  11. Process • Step 14: The toothpaste is squeezed out due to the collapse of the book.

  17. Energy conversion • As the ball rolls down the ramp elevated by the cardboard box, it has a constantly decreasing gravitational potential energy. This is because when the ball is at the highest position above the ground, it contains the highest potential energy. As the ball slowly decreases in height between the ground, it is converted into kinetic energy. • Hence, as the ball loses gravitational energy while moving down the ramp, the energy is converted into kinetic energy as the ball moves a greater distance across the ramp.

  18. Energy conversion • Kinetic energy from the falling ball is then transferred to the box. The kinetic energy, now in a forward moving momentum, pushes the box forward, causing it to fall. • Kinetic energy of the box now falls down on one end of a lever. Now its kinetic energy is acting down, causing one end of the lever to fall, while kinetic energy causes the oter end to rise.

  19. Energy conversion • The rising end of the lever hits and elevates a horizontally-positioned tube, with a ball inside. Similar to the first case, the ball’s gravitational energy increases as it is raised along with the ramp, which is then converted into kinetic energy, which leads to the ball rolling down the unbalanced tube, causing it to land up on the ramp.

Energy conversion • Kinetic energy in the ball is kept constant as it rolls from the tube onto the ramp, which allows the ball to continue rolling down the ramp. • The ball now comes into contact, collides with a truck. The kinetic energy from the ball is then transferred to the truck, which causes it to move forward.

  21. Energy conversion • The kinetic energy from the truck, then transferred to another ball, causes it to roll down the ramp. • The ball increases in velocity as it rolls down the ramp, which causes it to possess more kinetic energy. The ball then collides with the first book.

  22. Energy conversion • Kinetic energy from the ball is transferred to the book. The momentum of the ball causes the book to fall forward. • This leads to a domino effect, as the kinetic energy from the ball is transferred to the second book, causing it to fall, which then transfers it’s energy to the third….and fourth…..and finally the fifth book, causing it to fall.

  23. Energy conversion • Kinetic energy from the falling book is then transferred to the tube, which is pushed forward by the book. The kinetic energy possessed by the tube is then transferred to the final book. • The forward momentum from the tube is then carried on, acting on the final book. The kinetic energy is then transferred to the final book. The momentum and the kinetic energy than causes the book to fall, which leads to the toothpaste being squeezed. This is because the falling force(downward force) of the book squeezes down on the toothpaste, forcing toothpaste to come out.
