  3. On your own… • What is the theme of this commercial? • What is the commercial supposed to do…its call to action?

  4. With a partner or 2 Brainstorm to come up with a list of PSAs that you can think of.

  5. Let’s make a list… Can we organize these into categories?

  6. These commercials are called Public Service Announcements (PSAs). They are exactly what they sound like - service announcements to the public.

  7. How is this type of commercial different from other commercials?

  8. They don’t sell you anything • They just offer you: • Advice • Bring something to your attention • Offer assistance • Teach you • Other?

  9. Examples of PSA As you view each PSA, answer some of these questions. Is it serious in tone? Does it have a clear message? How long is it? Is the information important?

  10. Do you think the information is accurate? Is it believable?

  11. Spokesperson: • believable? • famous person? • respected and/or likeable? • credible? • dressed appropriately for the occasion or for the topic?

  12. Statistics / data: Are statistics used? Do you think the statistics are accurate?
