What are the aims for Induction Week? • To make you feel less confused and anxious! • To welcome you, help you to meet other students and staff • To prepare you for your first week of study • what is it going to be like? • where do I need to be? • have I done everything I need to do? • Let you know about all the opportunities available to you as an Undergraduate Business School student • Get to grips with the Brookes language and how things work here!

  8. How you might be feeling?

  9. Some quick basics The academic year consists of two Semesters • 12 weeks each semester • This is ‘Week 0’. Next week is Week 1, then Week 2,3,4 etc • The exam period is after Week 12 (do not book holidays or flights home until you know your exam schedule!) Your classes start next week (Monday 26th Sept) • Timetables are available after you enrol tomorrow (see your coloured ticket for times) • PLEASE double check your timetable before classes next week as your timetable (rooms, times) may change. You will find your timetable via your PIP page

  10. Key people (and terms) you need to know Student Support Co-ordinators (SSCs) • They are your first port of call if you have any problems, questions or queries

Key people (and terms) you need to know Student Support Co-ordinators (SSCs) • They are your first port of call if you have any problems, questions or queries Academic Advisers (AAs) • They will help you with any academic matters/issues • You will find out who your AA is once you enrol and you will meet them on Thursday afternoon

Key people (and terms) you need to know Student Support Co-ordinators (SSCs) • They are your first port of call if you have any problems, questions or queries Academic Advisers (AAs) • They will help you with any academic matters/issues • You will find out who your AA is once you enrol and you will meet them on Thursday afternoon Programme Lead • Help manage the ‘subject’ area you are studying e.g. Business and Marketing Management

The buses! • Leave plenty of time Missing any sessions this week • There is a lot to take in and it’s all important • Your induction schedule is in your Induction Booklet ‘Freshers Flu’! • Keep your Vitamin C intake up! Not asking questions • We are all here to help you

What happens next? • Student to Student Sessions (with our Student Guiders) • Tomorrow you enrol at Gipsy Lane (according to the time on your ticket) and attend the Freshers’ Fair • Wednesday and Thursday you attend crucial sessions back here at Wheatley (look in your induction booklet and the on the web pages for details) • Friday – you only need attend if you have any ‘errors’ on your programme (don’t worry - this will all be explained to you on Wednesday and Thursday!)
