  3. Course Objectives and Goals • To be able to revise and edit using proper grammar • To be able to analyze a writing prompt and determine what form of essay to write • To be able to write a strong thesis statement • To be able to utilize the writing process and produce an effective essay

  4. Syllabus *Grammar and spelling will be taught throughout the year.

  5. Tutorials • Monday AM • Tuesday AM • Thursday PM • OR by appointment

  6. Grading Policies • Daily Work – 40% • Tests, Projects, and Essays – 60% • Corrections/Redos – If the score is below a 70, it can be corrected for up to a 70 (excludes projects, benchmarks, and final exams) • Daily work – corrected and returned within 3 days • Tests – must schedule a tutorial day to make corrections within 3 days

  7. Final Exams • Fall final exams are tentatively set for December 15th- December 19th. • Spring final exams are tentatively set for June 1st – June 4th. • Final exams are mandatory for all students and cannot be taken early.

  8. STAAR TESTING • Day one of the writing exam will be multiple-choice Revising and Editing and one essay. • Day two of the writing exam will be two essays.
