Obstacles and Challenges In Utilizing Spiritual Gifts: • Need assessment of their spiritual gifts • Need training, development and coaching • Need sharing of their vision and faith • Need willingness to participate in church growth (to take responsibility) • Sometimesneed to respond better to God • Need more living example/inspiration, influence from leaders • Giving more • Look for more mission ground • Self motivation • Self compassion

Ways To Unearth Talents • Value the gift of the person • Encourage people to use their gifts • Be open to explore other gifts (Hidden talents) • Find ways or roles for people to use their gifts • Persevere with the person • Walking with the person • Building trust and relationship • Working towards a teachable heart

  8. Connecting • Have professional support groups • Help them to connect their gifts to God’s plan and vision • Helpful when themain ministry staff areinvolved with professionals • Mentoring system (Spiritual and successful professionals mentoring another)

  9. Outreach • Using their talents to reach out to others • Having an impact in the world to give the church a better standing in the society • Understanding the social climate so that as a church we can understand the social demographics • Using worldly gifts to win friends for the church

  10. Teaching • Everyone has gifts • One’s gift might come later in life • Let God develop your character • Align your gifts to God’s called purpose • Makes the church more complete

  11. 2 Cor9:10-15 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. (cont’d)

  12. 2 Cor9:10-15 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
