  2. 1 in 8 people world wide do not have access to safe and clean drinking water.

  3. 443 million school days are lost each year due to water-related diseases.

  4. Half of the world's hospital beds are filled with people suffering from a water-related disease.

  5. Nearly 1 out of every 5 deaths under the age of 5 worldwide is due to a water-related disease.

  6. Nearly 97% of the world’s water is salty or otherwise undrinkable. Another 2% is locked in ice caps and glaciers. That leaves just 1% for all of humanity’s needs.

  7. The United States uses about 346,000 million gallons of fresh water every day

  8. It takes seven and a half years for the average American residence to use the same amount of water that flows over the Niagara Falls in one second (750,000 gallons).

  9. More than 1,300 gallons of water is used to produce a 12 oz. steak.

  10. It takes more than 10 gallons of water to produce one slice of wheat bread. If you eat the bread with a slice of cheese then you add another 13 gallons.

  11. On average, women in Africa and Asia have to walk 3.7 miles to collect water.
