  1. Career Planning In your Ensign and Lieutenant (JG) years, you will be assigned to an NMCB. You are expected to obtain your Seabee Combat Warfare Qualification at the battalion and to prepare yourself for professional registration. In your Lieutenant years, you should strive for some diversity of experience and obtain your professional registration as an engineer or architect. You should look for increasing levels of responsibility and at least one tour as a battalion company commander. As a Lieutenant Commander, you should have obtained warfare qualification and professional registration. You should continue to seek diversity and increased levels of responsibility and should seek a tour as either a battalion S3 or XO. This will most fully qualify you for promotion to Commander and consideration for battalion command.
