A common argument from students is ”I don’tknowwhat to write – I have no imagination”  Tips! • Look aroundyourself – what in your immediatefield of vision cantrigger your imagination? • Can you think of relatedthings that havehappenedrecently to yourself or anyone you know of? • Is the given topicsomething that does not interest you in anyway? Why? • Make a mindmap with ideas.

  6. Linking words are words you use to connectsentences or parts of sentences. By using linking words you express yourselfmoreclearly and the readerfinds it easier to understand your ideas. The more formal the text is the more linking words are required. • Here is a list of useful linking words you canuse: * Must be followed by a noun, a pronoun or an ”ing-form” verb.   8. Tip! Do not confuse: What’smore, moreoverandin addition with Besides • What’smore, moreoverand in additionadd extra information. Example: I reckon this is the car I shouldbuy as it’scheapenough and not really so old. What’smore, it’s just beenre-sprayed. • Besidesaddsanother argument that is shown as beingstrongerthan the otheronesmentioned. Example: I reckon this is the car i shouldbuy as it’s not so old, and it’s just beenre-sprayed. Besides, it’s the onlyone I canafford. • Note that besidescanalso be used as a preposition, in whichcase it must take an ing-form verb. Example: Besideshaving the right price, whatattractedme to the carwasits new re-spray.

  9. Try to learn as many linking words as possible! Usethem in writing as well as speaking. This willhelp you improve your English instantly. The more you force yourself to writeacademically with advancedlanguage, the morenatural it will come to you and in the end you will not eventhinkabout it!   10. Write a story aboutanything. Useone of the phrasesbelow to start off your text. Try to use as many linking words as possible. In a normal situation you might not use as many in oneplace, but this is for practicing, so that you get used to usingthem. Följande faktorer är avsedda att vara till hjälp vid bedömningen. • Vilja och förmåga att använda språket i skrift för att uttrycka ett innehåll • Innehåll • idérikedom/fyllighet • anpassning till ämne och innehåll - sammanhang, struktur och klarhet • Språk - flyt och ledighet - strategisk kompetens (förmåga att komma runt svårigheter) och flexibilitet - vokabulär, idiomatik och fraseologi (bredd och variation) - grammatisk kompetens - meningsbyggnad - stavning
