Skimmer Question Skimmer Plans Skimmer Picture Skimmer Application How Involved Can You Get? • The graphed line would probably be a parabola • Students could average several launches at each input level (3 in, 4 in, 5 in, etc.) • Students could locate the point of greatest efficiency • Students could locate the point of greatest distance • Limitations can be placed on skimmer building materials • Different sized skimmers can be produced using ratios • Students can produce a technical drawing of the skimmer pattern or the built skimmer • Packaging can be made to market a skimmer kit • Comparisons can be made between hovercrafts, skimmers, and mag-lev trains • Lift coefficient formula for a particular skimmer could be backwards engineered
